Yeast Monitor 720
The Yeast monitor 720 range has incorporated the latest developments in radio-frequency impedance that allows a higher specification instrument to be manufactured at a lower cost. The Yeast Monitor Model 720 has an integral multiplexer, allowing the unit to be expanded up to 4 channels and it is completely contained within a stainless steel IP65 enclosure. The Model 720 has the flexible option of monitoring from the same instrument both yeast slurries and the relatively low cell concentrations found in propagators or krausening operations. Communication options include separate 4-20mA outputs for live cell concentration and conductivity and options for Profibus and other fieldbus communications to the PLC. Calibration is quick and simple with a new auto-calibration option. |

Yeast Monitor Model 710
The Yeast Monitor Model 710is ideal for a dedicated yeast pitching or cropping application requiring only one probe. Over 50% of the world’s major breweries now use the Yeast Monitor. Customers include AB Inbev, SAB Miller, Heineken, Coors, Diageo, Carlsberg, Suntory and many independant breweries. The Yeast Monitor 710 range has incorporated the latest developments in radio-frequency impedance that allows a higher specification instrument to be manufactured at a lower cost. The Yeast Monitor Model 710 is completely contained within a stainless steel IP65 enclosure and is capable of monitoring a wide range of cell concentrations from yeast slurries to the relatively low cell concentrations found in propagators or krausening operations. Communication options include separate 4-20mA outputs for live cell concentration and conductivity and options for Profibus and other fieldbus communications to the PLC. |

Compact Yeast Monitor - To be launched early 2010 At Drinktec 2009, Aber presented the next generation of "Compact" Yeast Monitors designed for breweries that require competitively priced, user-friendly instruments for pitching and cropping applications. With the new range Aber has condensed its advanced radio-frequency impedance technology into a compact IP65 housing that fits easily on to standard instrument housings such as the Tuchenhagen Varivent. For the most cost effective solution, the instrument can communicate directly to the PLC via Profibus or a 4-20mA current loop and an optional transmitter will be available if required. In order to simplify calibration and start up the "Compact" series will be suitable for breweries that use up to 2 yeast strains and it will have a tighter restriction of yeast conductivity compared with previous models. The "Compact" Yeast Monitors are designed to be used in real time with yeast slurries in the range of 5-70% viable spun solids and the system is maintenance free.

Biomass Monitor Model 200
The Biomass Monitor Model 200 is a response to the demand in the industry for a lower cost unit that is simple to use, flexible with communications and that will also meet the strict validation requirements of the manufacturing process including GAMP 4 compliance. The unit is designed to be dedicated to single bioreactor (ideal for cGMP) and overcomes the inconvenience of running multiple cables to bioreactors. These new features combine to make the BM 200 the most customer orientated device for live cell mass monitoring. Key user benefits

Futura Range The Aber Futura is the complete instrument; it has all the biomass monitoring processing power contained within a compact housing. Each connected probe has unique calibration data stored in a processor within the probe body allowing the Futura to automatically detect and identify the connected probe. Information on the probe life cycle can be provided by an intelligent sensor management software system. Like all Aber products, the Futura can be provided with full IOQ documentation making it the ideal choice for cGMP cell culture. Changes to the Futura configuration are tracked in it's integral 2 gigabyte memory so a full audit trail is always available. The Futura will be offered in three configurations to meet your needs. In each case, no additional transmitter or complex multiplexer is required and the customer can use their own PC or fermenter control system(including via OPC) to configure the simple options for measuring different cell types. There is no restriction on the number of instruments that can be controlled from a PC or control system. The Standard Futura can be provided with a low cost PLC based colour touch screen if a local display is required. Aber Instruments is launching in 2009 the Futura, a new generation of compact, lightweight biomass monitoring instrumentation in that can be used on conventional and disposable bioreactors. |

New Probe Testers
Aber is pleased to introduce two new additions to our product range. The Aber Probe Testers:
The Aber Probe Tester has been specially designed to carry out checks on the integrity of any type of on-line probe used with all Aber Biomass Monitor systems. This includes probes from the older generation of Biomass Monitors (eg Models 214 and 520). The tester will automatically run through a sequence of tests for internal corrosion and leakage between the electrodes. The complete test procedure checks the health of a probe and its ability to perform correctly. There are two versions of this instrument one intended for a production environment providing a simple Pass or Fail result. The other has an LCD display that allows the user to track the progress of testing of a probe.

New AberScan Software - Know your process better!
Aber is pleased to announce the release of its new AberScan software. The software simplifies the frequency scanning measurements first proposed by Aber in the 1990's.
The AberScan software package can improve the accuracy of the biomass measurement and provides a number of additional parameters that can be linked to critical events during fermentation and cell culture. By applying frequency scanning on capacitance and conductance values at 25 different frequencies between 0.1 MHz and 20 MHz. the software computes additional process parameters including the dielectric increment, cole-cole alpha (a) and critical or characteristic frequency (fc). A number of papers have already shown that frequency scanning can be a powerful tool for identifying major transition points in cell culture and fermentation and changes in the cell membrane capacitance. In one study, the changes in cell membrane capacitance appear to be linked with the onset of apoptosis when the cells shrink and the cell membrane undergoes folding.
